Pad printing (Tampon printing) |
The artwork, also called cliche, bears on its surface the slightly sunken print image. The scraper, in being a knife-like cut steel band and a small roll, will press the colour into the print image and streak the colour overrun neatly. Meanwhile, the tampon (a small pad, made of silicon rubber) will move to the printing plate. The pad will lower onto the cliché to absorb the print image. Following, the pad takes off to the print substrate, where it will print onto the selected face. Due to the elasticity of the tampon, it is also possible to print onto vaulted and unsteady surfaces.

Screen Printing
|
The artwork of the screen print consists of a frame, stringed with canvas. By the use of a special process, a template will be applied to it, to avoid the colour application on unintentional sites. In the maschine, the printing plate will be fixed above the print substrate. The colour will be applied onto the canvas and a scraper (knife-like formed piece of rubber with a sharply cut angle) will push it through the open sites of the template into the print substrate. The colour will be pressed through the canvas´s meshes and applied to the surface of the print substrate. Accordingly, the substrate will be extraced from the maschine and outlayed for drying.
